Alt hip-hop band and TMR favourites Monster Florence have returned with their first single of 2023. ‘Spaceman’ sees the band continue to explore a progressive sound that ends up producing some seriously impressive beats that blend a variety of samples and conjure up flavours of multiple different genres, sometimes simultaneously. Lyrically, this track is a retrospective one that looks at individual tales of growing up in a world they felt dissociated from. The track “tells very personal stories of our childhoods, a journey of trying to escape the realities of what we were faced with, a common story for many and something we hope resonates with people and their own version of those memories.” Be sure to keep an eye out for more from Monster Florence over the course of the year. -Dan Peeke.
